Grand Haven City Beach Love Session | Lauren + Caleb

Caleb first contacted me because he wanted to do some photos of himself for his music and I said: “please bring your girlfriend Lauren along I am dying to shoot a couple on the beach right now!” so he did. Thanks for that! We met up at Grand Haven City Beach just before sunset.

On my drive to the beach the sun was glowing and looking so wonderful and just as I pull up it goes away into this hazy maze of clouds… oh Michigan. I love you. While the Pacific Northwest may have beautiful views and mountains and things, there is nothing like the snowy/sandy left-over lake ice as a backdrop for portraits. It was pretty chilly and windy but these two were great sports. They also say they are awkward in front of the camera (here is a secret: I am awkward behind the camera, and the more awkward we are together the better it is I promise… oh and the photos turn out great too). It really doesn’t look like it. You two are naturals!

They rocked it and we made the best of the littlest bit of sunset on the first day of Spring.

New York, New York – Nicole + Nicky Engagement Session

Hey look! IT’S A CAT^^^. Haha. Ok beyond the cat…. New York City has a piece of my heart, and has had a piece of my heart since I was a child. I always dreamed of living in NYC and dancing there. My AIM handle was ballerinanewyork and I always had big city dreams. Flash forward many years and two of my BEST FRIENDS live in Brooklyn, love each other, have 2 cats and a dog and had me over to celebrate their engagement! We spent an entire day romping through Brooklyn and Manhattan, snapping shots and having a good ole’ time.

I also had the pleasure of helping Nicole pick out her wedding dress at BHLDN and attending their engagement party. It was an amazing weekend and I can’t wait for their wedding this summer to be captured by the amazing Everphoto. Sadly, I cannot be there on the day of the wedding as I am in another wedding! But I will be celebrating with them both the day before and after and their camp wedding will be the bestest.

Floral Crowns For Boudoir Photography

Some of you may have seen if you follow me on Instagram or Facebook that I am helping out my friend Cheyenne with her Boudoir Sessions when she comes to Chicago! CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO. I am really excited to make some new crowns for this event but thought I would share some photos of the last crown I designed and made for a styled session (coming soon!).

I really didn’t have much time to put together this flower crown but I love how it worked out. I paired some white roses with select faux flowers (i had a specific color I wanted which just isn’t available this time of year!) along with babies breath and some ferns. I kept it simple and elegant by having all the large flowers in one spot. I really enjoyed putting this together. Did you know I have a background in floral design and horticulture? Well if you didn’t now you do! It is something I really like doing for fun and I am excited to team up for this project!

Cheyenne is awesome and these Chicago Boudoir sessions are sure to be the BOMB DIGGITY. I mean you get to hang out w/ me, feel super pretty and add-on one of these sweet floral crowns! I plan on making each crown specifically for each person for their session. Traverse City Wedding Photographer – Belle + Cory Winter Wedding

I had an absolute BLAST photographing Belle + Cory’s Traverse City winter wedding! Getting married in the winter can seem less than ideal but I assure you it is just as beautiful as a summer wedding! (and generally less sweaty :P). They also chose the coolest date ever 12-13-14, I think it was the most request of 2014! These two have a long love story culminating to this amazing event, they met long ago, had two beautiful boys and I was so excited to capture this new adventure in their lives! They were surrounded by amazing friends and family for this event. Their ceremony took place in the gorgeous First congregational church of Benzonia UCC
and the reception took place at Grey Stone Mansion in Honor, MI. They had the best dancing at a reception I have ever seen and it even included their little guys dancing away! I couldn’t have imagined a better, more beautiful wedding for this gorgeous foggy winter day.

Zeeland, MI Engagement Session | Lindsey + Mike

Do you guys remember fall? That crisp coolness that warms up in the afternoon…flannel shirts and warm sweaters…ahhhh how I miss you fall. As I sit here cleaning the salt off my boots I am pumped to bring you this gorgeous (and also equally adorable and funny) Zeeland fall engagement session. The first time I met Lindsey and Mike I knew they were my kind of couple. They are so laid back and so into their wedding day being all about being together with family and friends without all the frills and craziness. They wanted an equally fun and laid back engagement session so we decided to head to the park and mess around. Mike really wanted to do photos with his tandem bike and I think I may have squealed a little about how adorable they were on it. The amount of awesome GIF’s from this session is pretty incredible. We then headed over to Moelker Orchards where I had the best pumpkin donut of my life (seriously guys…I would like to live in a world of pumpkin donuts now…). I can’t believe it is only 6 months until their ultra-fun and relaxed Zeeland Park wedding. While I never drink at weddings you can best bet I will be trying out the beers Mike is brewing for the occasion and as you all know I will be dancing my booty off under the stars!

And seriously..aren’t they just the cutest couple. I MEAN SERIOUSLY! They were all about playing on the playground. That is my kind of couple!
